1. Nature of the Service

2. Lawful Use Rules

Use the service only for lawful purposes. You may not use it, or information reached through it, to:

  • Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm any person

  • Disrupt the service’s operation or security

3. No Consumer Reporting Agency

Clay Residents Directory is not a consumer reporting agency as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. Nothing published here, or returned through a linked search tool, is a consumer report. It may not be used to evaluate eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another FCRA-covered purpose.

4. Third-Party Links

Government portals and outside services, including sponsored search tools, operate under their own terms and policies. We do not control their content, availability, price, or data practices.

5. No Warranties

The service is offered "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. We do not promise that its information is complete, accurate, or current, or that a linked portal will operate or return correct results.

6. Limits of Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from use of the service or a linked resource, including decisions based on a record reached through it.

7. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the service’s operators from claims or demands, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising from your misuse of the service or breach of these terms.

8. Intellectual Property

The original text, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. Linking to a page and quoting a brief attributed excerpt is allowed; republication of whole pages or systematic copying is not.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms by posting an updated version here. Use after an update means acceptance.

10. Restricting Access

We may limit or block access, without notice and at our discretion, when a user violates these terms or abuses the service.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. New York Freedom of Information Law, Public Officers Law Article 6, §§84-90, governs public-record requests to agencies and custodians; it does not create an obligation for this private reference to produce a government record.

12. Severability

If a provision of these terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
